Campus Circle Interview
In young Hollywood, people come and go quickly without much notice. You can be famous one second and non-existent the next. Only a very select few make the transition to full-blown celebrity. However, it’s safe to say that Britt Robertson is one of young Hollywood’s brightest rising stars.

You play Aubrey Miller, a junior with artistic aspirations, in ‘The First Time.’ What was it about the character and the script that convinced you to take on the role?
What I really liked about the character of Aubrey was how smart she was, and also how confused she was. I also liked how many opinions she has that don’t make sense with all the other opinions that she has. (laughs) She’s constantly conflicted, I think. It was just a really dynamic role to play, in a really simple way, which I thought would be a pretty big challenge.

Was being a lead in an indie film something you were nervous about?
Yes, because it was a little different than anything I’d done before. I’ve done a few independent films prior to this but this just felt really different. And Jon [Kasdan] had such a specific idea in his mind of what he wanted to do with this film. So that I think provided some pressure on my part. But other than that, it’s exciting. You’re constantly challenging yourself to work past the pressure of it all and to try and do your best.

Did you drawn on your own high school experiences to get into character for The First Time?
I didn’t have a lot of high school experience to draw from, since I was home-schooled. But as I grew up, I was still always feeling the same pressures as my friends who went to typical high schools.
